If the natural tooth-loss process for baby teeth is hard for you and your child, you’re not alone. Many kids feel anxious, nervous and even scared when they first start to lose their baby teeth. They don’t know what is happening! This can make the entire process very tough for you as a parent. Fortunately, there are things you can do to make the tooth loss process more enjoyable for your child, and our dentist, Dr. Anthony Scoma and Dr. Natalie Lam, are happy to tell you all about them. Those things are:

-Tell your child about the Tooth Fairy! She’s a kind, loving fairy that visits children when they lose their teeth. When your child loses their teeth, all they need to do is clean it, place it in a little box or sandwich bag and place it under their pillow. The Tooth Fairy will visit and replace the tooth with a treasure!

-Help your child build a special box or pillow pocket that keeps their lost tooth safe. Sometimes the Tooth Fairy gets busy and doesn’t visit for a couple days.

-Help your child create a sign to hang on the door or window. When they lose a tooth, hang the sign to tell the Tooth Fairy to come visit. You can also spread glitter on the front porch or bedroom window seal to also notify the Tooth Fairy about the lost tooth.

-Leave a sign that the Tooth Fairy visited. This can be anything like leaving glittery footprints on the window seal, leaving kind Tooth Fairy letters or even leaving glittery money!
